How to be a chill Mum: Or not!
Hi everyone!
My name is Meg, I am the mummy of Olive who is currently six and a half weeks old. As this is my first post it seems fitting to share a little bit about me...I am a single Mum by choice and live in a little cottage by the sea in Fremantle, WA. I love gardening, cooking, animals, music and painting.
For me, Motherhood has been one of the best, most challenging, wonderful, hilarious and heart breaking things I have ever done. In many ways, having a baby is life changing (for example as I write this I am breastfeeding a sweaty little human and typing with one hand) but in a lot of ways it really isn't. I don't feel like I have lost anything, only gained so much more than I could have ever hoped. I learn new things every day, not only about my child but also myself. I try to approach every experience with an open mind. which is not always easy, especially when it's 2am, you've put your back out and your nipples are bleeding. (true story for another time) I want to share my experiences and my journey, with my darling Olive, as honestly and none judgmentally as possible.
Hopefully some other new Mums or Dads can read this and benefit, or at least get a giggle out of it!
Some of the things I hope to cover in the future are;
Pregnancy, Giving birth, Mum shaming, home birth, Thrift shopping for baby, things you need, things you really don't need, fears you experience when you have a baby, postpartum, breastfeeding, mum brain, cluster feeding, sleep, friendships....maybe even a post about baby poo colour...who knows!
I apologise in advance, I'm not the best writer, but I will try my best and hopefully learn as I go!
Me at 9 months pregnant and five weeks postpartum. Both photos by my friend Emma.
